Join the Elgin County Branch

How to Join the Elgin OA

To become a member of the Elgin County Branch, Ontario Ancestors, membership in our parent organization, the Ontario Genealogical Society is required.

Indicate that you also wish to join the Elgin County Branch. This entitles you to the current issues of the branch’s newsletter the Talbot Times as well as a chance to participate in the Branch’s management and projects. You will also have access to our Members Only section of our website where you can share pedigrees with other Branch members.

With your OGS membership you will receive-

  • Copies of the Society’s quarterly Publication Families, monthly publication NewsLeaf  and the new weekly OGS eWeekly Update.
  • The OGS will issue a tax receipt for donations over $20.
  • Your membership in the Ontario Genealogical Society allows the organization to carry on its work as our parent society. Because we are branches of a parent society, there is uniformity in our projects, publications and networking between branches. The OGS has been responsible for the coordination of province-wide projects among the branches, including cemetery transcriptions, 1871 census indexing, places of worship inventory project and indexing of strays.
  • Membership in the OGS allows the society to be an influence on government bodies concerning cemetery closures, preservation of records and release of records for research.
