American Civil War veteran grave marker returns to St. Thomas

“The grave of a St. Thomas native and American Civil War veteran was returned to its proper form with the replacement of a Grand Army of the Republic grave marker this week.

Octavius Wallace’s final rest place is in the Old St. Thomas Church cemetery on Walnut Street. He served in the Union Army but his life began in 1835 when he was born in St. Thomas.”
